How To Stop Harassing Phone Calls

Harassing phone calls by credit card companies or debt collection
companies can greatly alter your quality of life.  It is very easy to
COMPLETELY STOP ALL HARASSING PHONE CALLS.  When your
credit card company or debt collector calls, pick up the phone, allow
them to identify themselves and tell them the following:

"Thank you for calling.  In accordance with the Fair Debt
Collection Practices Act, I am giving you notice to stop calling
me in regards to this matter as I am only accepting
communication concerning this account in writing."

This should be the end of the conversation. They may ask you to put
your request in writing and fax it to them (make sure you get the fax
number!).  Go ahead and write a simple letter using the wording
above and fax it to them.  You will not hear from them again by
phone.

Should the they continue to speak with you, annouce once more:
"I am giving you notice to cease and desist calling me on this
matter in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices
Act.", then hang up.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is something you should read
and become familiar with.  It is quite brief and easy to read.  For a
